Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was on an audience for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Her reporting included a number of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra affair, the tax and budget reforms and also the arms control. She traveled extensively together with the president Reagan to meet together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
